Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using the Olumo Progressive Association Canada Inc. (“OPAC”) website and
services, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree
to these terms, please do not use our website or services.
About OPAC
OPAC is a registered not-for-profit corporation under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporation Act,
operating in the Province of Ontario. Our registration address is 40 Garibaldi Drive, Brampton,
ON L6X 4Z2, Canada.
Membership Terms
Eligibility
To qualify for OPAC membership, you must:
● Be at least 30 years of age
● Be a descendant of Egbaland or qualify for adoption membership
● Demonstrate commitment to Egba people’s advancement
● Have no criminal record or felonious convictions
● Pay the required registration fee of $100 per household
Membership Application
All membership applications are subject to approval by the general house. Adoption
memberships require sponsorship by a bona-fide member and two-thirds majority vote approval.
Membership Obligations
Members agree to:
● Attend regular monthly meetings (minimum 4 per year)
● Pay monthly dues and any assessed levies or fines
● Uphold OPAC constitution and bylaws
● Maintain good standing through active participation
● Protect the reputation and integrity of OPAC
● Respect fellow members and maintain confidentiality
Membership Categories
● Active Member: Attends meetings regularly and participates in activities
● Inactive Member: Approved by house, pays dues but limited attendance
● Senior Member: Age 65 and above with special considerations
● Distance Member: Resides beyond 200km radius of Toronto
● Compassionate Member: Under challenging conditions affecting participation
Benefits and Privileges
Members in good standing are entitled to:
● Voting rights on association matters
● Access to financial assistance programs
● Scholarship opportunities for children
● Bereavement and newborn benefits
● Participation in cultural events
● Networking and professional development opportunities
Financial Terms
Registration Fee: $100 per household (non-refundable)
Monthly Dues: As determined by general house and communicated to members
Fines and Penalties:
● Late arrival at meetings: $5
● Exceeding four consecutive absences without notice: $50
● Other penalties as prescribed in constitution
Financial Assistance Loans:
● Available to members in good standing after one year of membership
● Requires signed agreement and surety from another member
● Repayment terms determined by financial committee
Refund Policy:
● Registration fees are non-refundable
● Membership dues are non-refundable once paid
● Event fees may be refunded at discretion of executive with 14 days notice
Website Use Terms
Permitted Use
You may use our website for:
● Learning about OPAC and our activities
● Submitting membership applications
● Accessing member resources (if logged in)
● Contacting us with inquiries
Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
● Use the website for unlawful purposes
● Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data
● Transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
● Impersonate others or provide false information
● Scrape, copy, or reproduce content without permission
● Harass, abuse, or harm other users
Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of OPAC or its licensors and protected by Canadian copyright laws. The OPAC name, logo, and emblem are trademarks of the association.You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written
permission.
Events and Activities
Registration and Payment
Event registration may require advance payment. Failure to pay may result in registration cancellation.
Cancellation Policy
OPAC reserves the right to cancel events due to insufficient registration, weather, or unforeseen
circumstances. Registered participants will be notified and offered refunds or credits.
Photography and Media Release
By attending OPAC events, you consent to photography and video recording for promotional
purposes. If you object, please notify the event organizer.
Disclaimers and Limitations
No Warranties
Website and services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We
do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OPAC shall not be liable for:
● Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
● Loss of profits, data, or opportunities
● Damages arising from website use or inability to use
● Actions taken based on information provided
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OPAC, its officers, members, and representatives
from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these terms or misuse of
services.
Dispute Resolution
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
Internal Dispute Resolution
Member disputes shall first be addressed through OPAC’s internal procedures as outlined in the constitution, including special committees and general house review.
Arbitration
If internal resolution fails, disputes may be submitted to binding arbitration under Ontario arbitration law before pursuing litigation.
Jurisdiction
You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for any legal proceedings.
Amendments to Constitution
OPAC’s constitution may be amended by two-thirds majority vote at a general meeting. Amendments supersede conflicting provisions in these Terms.
Termination
By Member: Members may withdraw by providing 30 days written notice to the Secretary.
By OPAC: OPAC may terminate membership for:
● Non-payment of dues or fines
● Violation of constitution or bylaws
● Conduct detrimental to association reputation
● Criminal convictions
● Four consecutive absences without justification
Effect of Termination: Upon termination, all membership rights cease immediately. Members
have no claim to association assets or refunds.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in
full effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Constitution, constitute the entire agreement
between you and OPAC regarding use of our services.
